SUSTAINABILITY
EcoMosque aims to be a sustainable long-term reality, in both economic and environmental terms.
Environmental sustainability is defined as the ability of the environment to continue to function properly indefinitely. This means meeting current needs without endangering the welfare of future generations. EcoMosque will aim to minimise environmental degradation, and to halt and reverse the processes they lead to wherever possible. EcoMosque will use resources that can be replenished and the reduction of harmful human activity to a rate which is below the threshold that would lead to environmental degradation.
However, for EcoMosque to be sustainable, being eco-friendly will not be sufficient. EcoMosque encompasses economic, environmental and social aspects. By fusing a desire to combat environmental damage with a passion for delivering key services and products to students and the local community, EcoMosque will achieve a surplus over expenditure which can then be used to develop better and more focussed services.
